Ben Howard, one of our 1st Line Service Desk engineers, is celebrating his second anniversary at Impact.
Since joining the team, Ben has gone from strength to strength after studying computer science at GCSE and college level—he’s becoming a truly talented techie.
His hard work, excellent telephone etiquette, and positive relationship with our clients have leveraged him to develop his customer service skills.
Ben’s hard work with Impact has spread to his extracurricular work, he recently became a certified Microsoft 365 Endpoint Administrator Associate!
He’s not just a talented young engineer, however, Ben is also a massive gamer and has clocked in over 11,000 hours on CS:GO. He enjoys other games like Call of Duty, Rainbow Six: Siege, and FIFA.
We caught up with Ben to celebrate his time at Impact:
What made you pursue a career in IT?
“I’ve been fascinated by computers for as long as I can remember, having grown up surrounded by technology.
My early love for video games and connecting with friends online naturally evolved into a deeper curiosity about how these systems work and what’s possible with current and future technology.
Combining this curiosity with my passion for problem-solving and logic puzzles made pursuing a career in IT an obvious and exciting choice.”
What do you enjoy about working at Impact?
“The people at Impact are what make it such an incredible place to work.
Their passion for helping others and sharing knowledge is unmatched, and anyone who has had the privilege of interacting with any of my colleagues can attest to that.
It’s hard to believe it’s been 2 years since I started as an apprentice here – I guess time flies when you’re having fun!”
What have you learnt during your time with Impact?
“Working at Impact has shown me just how vast the world of IT truly is, from something as seemingly simple as connecting to a printer to the complex tasks of building networks and configuring servers from scratch.
Every day brings new learning opportunities, whether I’m gaining insights from my amazing colleagues or experimenting with new challenges until they make sense.
This environment of continuous learning and growth keeps me motivated and excited for what’s next.”
We also caught up with Ben’s line manager, Lewis Cowley, Service Desk Manager; he said:
“Congratulations on 2 years, Ben! You have made incredible progress since joining us.
The empathy and service you provide to our clients is simply amazing, and it always makes my day!
Thank you for everything you do for us here, Ben, and here’s to many more successful years working together.”
